converte vob files into mpg (MPEG-2 PS)†

MPEG-2 PS usually contains several video and audio erelemtary streams.
VOB may have extra data such as captions and meta data in addition to audio and video ESs.
There is no guarantee that an ordinary MPEG-2 video player succesfully play a vob file.
VOB files should be converted into MPEG-2 PS format befor playing.
Famous TMPGEnc free edition suffice it.
All you have to do is just mux mp2 and m2v after demux vob.
